Singapore Airlines has once again been crowned the best airline in the world at the prestigious Skytrax World Airline Awards for 2023.
This marks their fifth win in the 23-year history of the awards. The announcement was made during a grand event at the Air and Space Museum in Paris, following the airline’s recent recognition as the fifth-best airline by AirlineRatings.com. The Skytrax Awards were determined through independent customer surveys conducted by a UK-based aviation consultancy from September 2022 to May 2023.
Singapore Airlines received accolades in multiple categories, with their First Class cabin earning the title of the World’s Best First Class. The CEO of Skytrax, Edward Plaisted, commended the airline for its outstanding performance across various award categories. Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines, credited the win to the dedication and sacrifices made by his team during the pandemic, allowing the airline to emerge stronger.
The second spot in the ranking went to Qatar Airways, a previous seven-time winner, followed by ANA All Nippon Airways from Japan in third place. Qatar Airways dominated the business class category, sweeping awards for World’s Best Business Class, Business Class Seat, Business Class Lounge, Lounge Dining, and being named the Best Airline in the Middle East. ANA All Nippon Airways was recognized for its exceptional hygiene standards, winning the World’s Cleanest Airline award for the third consecutive year and also securing the World’s Best Airport Services award.
Other notable winners included Kuwait Airways as the World’s Most Improved Airline, AirAsia as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline (a title it has won every year since 2010), Scoot as the World’s Best Long-Haul Low-Cost Airline, and Volotea as the Best Low-Cost Airline in Europe.
The awards also recognized Air Canada as the World’s Most Family-Friendly Airline, Garuda Indonesia for having the World’s Best Cabin Crew, Cathay Pacific for the World’s Best Inflight Entertainment, and Bangkok Airways as the World’s Best Regional Airline.
In the regional categories, Delta Air Lines was named the Best Airline in North America, with Sun Country Airlines receiving the title of Best Low-Cost Airline in North America for the first time. Alaska Airlines was recognized as North America’s Best Regional Airline.
